Berlin Maryland voted 2014 Coolest Small Town in America

Written by Vincent Gisriel III on February 28, 2014

Berlin, Maryland has just been voted the "Coolest Small Town in America" by Budget Travel. We always knew that there was a reason we set roots for our website design firm here. Actually both of our founders graduated from Stephen Decatur High School right down the street.

Sometimes when we tell new clients that we have an office in Berlin, they ask: How often do you have to go to Germany?

Berlin, Maryland (population 4,563) is about eight miles from famous Ocean City, Maryland on the Eastern Shore. This small town has old town charm mixed with great mom and pop owned businesses. We'll admit that they roll up the sidewalks pretty early around here but that is just our style.

Listed below are the top ten towns in Budget Travel's 2014 America's Coolest Small Town contest. The total number of votes cast were 137,819, with Berlin receiving 39,285 votes. Each of these ten towns will be featured in an upcoming edition of BudgetTravel.com and an upcoming story in Budget Travel's online version:

  1. Berlin, MD
  2. Cazenovia, NY
  3. Buckhannon, WV
  4. Travelers Rest, SC
  5. Mathews, VA
  6. Nevada City, CA
  7. Rockport, TX
  8. Estes Park, CO
  9. Galena, IL
  10. Elkin, NC
